First let's look at AI like ChatGPT. You can ask questions on any topic and it will spew out pages of information on the same. This will DEFINITELY have a massive impact on education, as the AI will basically write the whole assignment for the learner. This is none other than a massive form of plagiarism. Then what is the purpose of the assignment?
Now the Question is this: "How can you as educator counter this"? If your student hands in a written assignment, there is absolutely NO WAY for the educator to determine the level of plagiarism.
There is however a safe way to determine what level of plagiarism has been committed by the student..... Google Classroom.
When a student hands in an assignment via Google Classroom, the level of plagiarism can be determined automatically.
